Neat little reference to Action Comics #6a here with the “Superman Streamline” car.

Yeah, I'd like to get one of those Superman Streamlines!

Another interesting premise for a Slam and Shorty story. The will reading was fun, but I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for the alcoholic son. He seemed more hurt and less money grubby than the other relatives.

What a crazy stipulation! He was basically inviting his relatives to try to snuff Slam.

The Superman Streamline car? Jerry and Joe wouldn't resort to plugging their other strips would they?

Again, a pretty fun romp. I get the impression that Slam and Shorty can't keep any money in their bank accounts. What do they do with all the reward money? I'm pretty sure not everything is given to charity. And they were going to buy two of those cars when they learned about the inheritance.

3 stars.

This is a great achievement in both writing and art. The writing demonstrates a masterful preciseness when all of the characters are introduced, panel by panel, before the reading of the will. In a single page, we get to know the Whitethorne family and their inadequacies, which makes the will-reading that much more fun. The art is also improving. I am particularly impressed by Ronald on the sixth panel of page four. Shuster had a tendency to draw men with the same face (Superman and Slam look very alike), but this story shows me his talent to a greater extent.

This is also how you do a mystery with a large cast of characters. We have seen this attempted in 6-page stories, but this is type of story shines when you have a good writer in Siegel and 13 pages to work with. I didn't know who the murderer was until the reveal. Bravo!

LOL moment - When Shorty sees that Lucy likes Slam's appearance, he says, "I'm not tall but I've got brains!" Oh Shorty, you'll find a woman one of these days.

"Careful, lady! Who knows! He's liable to slap you back!" Oh, how I'm growing to adore this wonderfully screwball little series! ;)
