I felt like Zatara was kind of a villain in this story. Jeb Standish (related to Miles somehow?) had sent Zatara after the waters of the Fountain of Youth, and he came across like some insane guy with an agenda, in my opinion. Probably the last guy you want walking around for the next hundred years or so. Plus, the way Zatara terrorized those natives and worked them to exhaustion. I wouldn't call this a career highlight for Zatara.

2 stars. I just learned the ancient Inca language in this story; it's really backwards English!

Now we are back to Zatara using his magic every other panel. It does keep things interesting as you never know what he is going to do next (I like the flying canoes), but it makes for bad storytelling as he can get himself out of any situation.

So the way Zatara used to recite spells is actually ancient Inca, eh? Taht si ytterp diputs.

What's the deal with Gardner Fox / Fred B. Guardineer and his/theirs obsession with snakes?
I hate the fact that Zatara can Practically fly and yet he abuses natives until they agree to serve him.
Still, nice story.
