I think this is the second or third time Slam has made friends with someone, just to have them killed in the same story. And I don't recall reading a Slam vs. Blackjack story. Maybe we'll see that first encounter one day?

3 stars, but some disdain for a lower page count.

The lower page count really hurts this. The story is going along in a routine manner, only to have the last couple of panels summarize what would have normally taken place over at least a page.

I loved how Slam calls Shorty a runt and Shorty doesn't even object. He's totally in the bag for whatever comes out of Slam's mouth. It might be a little unhealthy...

The explicit mention of the electric chair is pretty dark. I know this guy is a murderer, but these things are usually kept behind the scenes.

2/5

Didn't seem to be any of the usual charm in this one, there's normally at keast a laugh or two to be had with Slam and Shorty.
