Huh. Weird that they threw Sandman into the big World's Fair tie in advertising party, considering he'd only had one appearance before this was published. Actually, looking at the publication dates, this might have been his first appearance. Weird.

Anyway, it's probably the best story in the book, in my opinion. So, I'd say it's a welcome addition. I'm really digging the Sandman.

Okay, you haven't read everything comics has to offer until you see a bare-chested guy wearing a gas mask!

I'm liking the Samdman too. He's got that crazy streak in him I never realized existed. 3 stars.

Just looking at his wiki article, there appears to be some debate on Sandman's first appearance. Adventure #40 and this book were published right around the same time, but most people think this book was published first. However, the story in Adventure #40 was written first. So it's up to you on which is the first app! As for me, I'm saying this is Dodds' first appearance, Part II!

The gas mask and the swim suit is a great look. Saying this without seeing the image is silly, but I am being dead serious, the Sandman looks awesome without a shirt. I wonder how long he will sprinkle sand on every sleep victim.

This story does a better job with Dodds civilian identity than Adventure #40. We now know of his millionaire identity and that he is heir to a steel corporation. He is also an inventor as well, so he reminds me of Tony Stark.

I don't like the writing style with the hyphens. It makes the dialogue read jagged, like William Shatner is reading it.

Not to bad... not much different then the other detective type comics going on at the time, but different enough to keep it fresh
